Baptisms, weddings
and funerals

baptisms & christenings

Baptism is joining the church community across the world, who pray and seek to support each other.

It's promising to live your life fully, with love, care and integrity, in the ways that Jesus showed us in the Bible.

Recognising that we are human, we get things wrong, and that when we do, there is a way back.

Being thankful for all the good things in our lives and committing to work for a better world.

Often people bring children for baptism, but you can also be baptised as an adult. If you are not baptised, it can be really special for a parent to be baptised at the same service as their children.

Baptisms are usually held on a Sunday morning, during the Sunday Service at 10.30am.

Should you wish to hold your child's baptism or christening here, or indeed be baptised yourself, please call our Vicar, Revd Richard Magrath on 07928 903 380 or email him at [email protected].

weddings & Blessings

Celebrating love in all its forms is something St Edward's strongly believes in.

Although there is an outline for the wedding service, you can choose the following, so it is personal for you, your family and friends:

  • Favourite poems or readings

  • Music for going into, during and leaving the service

  • Contributions from family and friends

  • Brides can be given away if you want, but don’t have to be

  • You certainly don't have to swear obedience

The personal touches are yours - it's your celebration!

For all services, the Vicar will discuss your preferences, so that the service reflects your lives and what this celebration of love means to you as a couple.

Should you wish to hold your wedding or blessing here, please call our Vicar, Revd Richard Magrath on 07928 903 380 or email him at [email protected].

Funerals & bereavement services

We offer support whilst your loved one is ill, and provide practical, emotional and spiritual help, both before the death and afterwards.

We can assist you in planning the funeral or memorial. We respect your wishes and will help you craft a service that suits your family and honours the life of the person you love.

We are happy to welcome you into the church or our Vicar can take a service at a local crematorium or cemetery of your choice.

If you would like us to conduct a funeral or memorial for a loved one, or you require bereavement support, please call our Vicar, Revd Richard Magrath on 07928 903 380 or email him at [email protected].
